Edcamp is perhaps most interesting because there is no advanced program. The first half hour of edcamp is designed to be the conference planning. People get together, talk at their tables & sign up for a session time.
I find this to have pros & cons (as do all things). I like that there are no “gatekeepers” that might prevent ideas being presented. Oftentimes I submit several presentations to a conference & the ones that I believe to be most compelling are rejected. In the edcamp case, I could present on virtually anything – whether anyone would show, is another story. :)
Russ Goerend & I just signed up for a session on assessment. I hope to couch(sp?) our discussion in relation to other aspects of effective teaching. That is, how assessment fits with & supports the rest of our teaching.
